They and I also prefer the Desktop version of the product: the whole "software as an annuity" business model leaves me cold.

As for the version of Desktop Pro: 17 years in, it was the fastest and easiest install of QB ever -- and that was done using the disc. I tried the URL noted on the box, but it took me to a marketing page, and I wasn't going to hunt for the download link.

After completing the install, importing the company file, and finishing a few minor bits of housekeeping, everything was running just fine under Windows Next, I ran the update routine manually: it downloaded 1. After installing, restarting, etc. This, too, was successful and seems to be well in my QB world. In all, I'm pleasantly surprised by the update-and-migrate experience. I have used quickbooks for many, many years both at places I have worked as a bookkeeper and when I had my own business.

I am retired now but still use it for our personal financial information. The version that I had was and wasn't going to be supported anymore so I needed a new version. This is it! Still a good package, and I wanted the desktop version. More expensive than it has been but it looks like Intuit is trying to get past having desktop versions of their software.

Everything now days seems to a subscription or a cloud based thing and I refuse to go anywhere near the cloud if I can help it. Glad that I could get this. I did buy this last year July and installed it on my business computer. I called Tech support for some help and the young lady offered to register it for me while on the phone. I had to upgrade my computer September and bought one that did not have a CD drive. When I tried to enter my License number it was registered under another company.

They are telling me they cannot help me due to it being purchased through a third party sales and I will have to purchase again.

They are telling me that even though I have proof of purchase, proof of when it is installed, proof of everything, they cannot and will not help me. I have to buy and pay for new quickbooks.

One person found this helpful. Best part is no monthly subscription. I don't have a huge laptop and was concerned that the open windows of the app would be cut off, but they seem to scale well. In this respect, this version seems to be an improvement over the Quickbooks version I was using on an older, larger laptop. I wanted to purchase this product before Quickbooks figured out some other way to force us to buy a software license for each company file.

Upgraded to QB '21 from my old '13 version. Tech and uprades were dropped and it would kick off every so often, so it was a matter of time. Installed the disc, put in the license and it dowloaded the program with all my data installed perfectly. Have three different accounts so I had to use a new password in each one, that was it.

Has run for two months with no problems. Kinda pricey but losing my data made it worth it. Not sure where all the complaints are coming from but here's one happy customer. This product is awful. Everyone should know up front that Quickbooks Desktop and Quickbooks Online are absolutely utterly completely different beings. They look nothing like one another in the user interface, menus, and features.
